Enrichment Education

Children’s Education Enrichment Services

LESM provides Educational Enrichment services for children and adolescents experiencing academic, emotional or social challenges and difficulties at school or at home.

Our goal is to help improve the educational and life outcomes for vulnerable children.  We seek to empower them to become successful students and productive citizens.

To accomplish this goal, we give priority to the following:

  • Providing for children the tools and opportunities for academic success;
  • Improving children’s social and behavioral skills;
  • Preparing and helping parents to become their children’s advocates;

This program seeks to address one of the most serious problems facing the State of Mississippi - poor student achievement/performance. Mississippi continues to be at or near the bottom on most indicators of student achievement. The achievement gap is even more pronounced among at-risk children-- those affected by poverty; family instability; learning, emotional or physical challenges; language barriers; and, environmental inequities.

Currently, we are operating the Enhancing Needed Resources; Increasing Children’s Horizons (ENRICH) Program, a summer literacy day group for academically at-risk children, grades K – 6th. ENRICH is a four week summer program designed to help decrease student’s learning loss over the summer and to increase their passion for learning. These program goals are accomplished through individualized tutoring and enrichment opportunities.  The curriculum is aligned with the state and national standards and instructions are provided by certified teachers.  Students also receive instructions in life and behavioral skills, character education and etiquette. Using a holistic approach, the program works in cooperation with the local school district and encourages parent participation.
